More than 3,300 people visited Bargoed town centre earlier this month as the popular Bargoed May Fair returned with a packed programme of entertainment, activities and local traders.
Organised with support from Caerphilly County Borough Council and Bargoed Town Council, the event took place on Saturday, May 9, attracting families and visitors from across the region.
Visitors enjoyed a wide range of attractions throughout the day, including food and drink stalls, quirky movie vehicles, children’s rides and free family activities.
The town centre was filled with giant inflatables, traditional games, donkey rides, craft workshops and TV and film mascot lookalikes, creating a lively atmosphere across the high street.
Council organisers said the event successfully boosted footfall in the town centre and helped attract new visitors to local businesses. The May Fair was the fifth event in the county borough’s 2026 events programme.
Bargoed will next host the Bargoed Summer Music Festival on Saturday, July 11, with organisers hoping the events continue to support local traders and encourage repeat visits.
The next major county borough event will be the Risca Beach FEASTival, taking place on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7.
So far this year, the five events held across the county borough, including The Big Welsh Festival, Bargoed Spring Fair, Ystrad Mynach Food, Drink & Music Festival, Caerphilly Food & Drink Festival and the Bargoed May Fair, have attracted nearly 22,000 visitors to town centres.
