Families in Cardiff can cool off this May half term as the popular Splash Pad at Victoria Park officially opens for the summer season today.
Following a successful soft launch yesterday, the attraction opens fully on the first official day of the May half term holidays, just as soaring temperatures are expected across Wales this weekend.
The opening comes in time for what the Met Office is forecasting to be a scorching bank holiday weekend, with many families expected to head outdoors to make the most of the sunshine.
The Splash Pad will operate seven days a week throughout the summer, with dedicated relaxed sessions for children with additional needs running daily from 10am to 11am. General sessions will then take place from 11am until 6.45pm.
Located within the beautiful Grade II listed Victoria Park, the Splash Pad features 33 interactive water attractions designed for children of all ages.
Features include:
- sprays
- jets
- a tipping water bucket
- a tunnel
The water play area is split into three separate zones tailored for toddlers, juniors and families, offering something for everyone during the warmer weather.
The Splash Pad replaced and upgraded the park’s former paddling pool and was designed and constructed by water play specialists Ustigate Waterplay Ltd.
With temperatures expected to remain high over the coming days, the attraction is likely to prove popular with local families looking for ways to stay cool during the school break.
