RSPB Ynys-hir Reserve in Mid Wales is offering free entry to National Lottery players as part of national #ThanksToYou celebrations from December 3-9.

The nature reserve near Machynlleth is one of hundreds of participating National Lottery-funded visitor attractions across the UK saying ‘thanks’ to people who have raised money for good causes by buying a lottery ticket.
The idea is simple: any visitor who presents a National Lottery ticket or scratch card between December 3-9 inclusive gets free entry in return. Terms and conditions apply.
RSPB Ynys-hir received money from the Heritage Lottery Fund, which, along with additional funding from others, allowed the purchase of lowland wet grassland important for breeding lapwing and wintering Greenland white fronted geese.

Beverly Dimmock, the reserve’s visitor experience manager, said:
“Thanks to National Lottery players we’ve been able to improve this site that is home to a great variety of wonderful wildlife, particularly breeding lapwing and redshank.
“At this time of year, the area supports a variety of large numbers of wading birds and ducks that spend the winter months here. Walk out to Ynys Feurig hide from which to enjoy views of these birds and the stunning landscape of the Dyfi estuary.”
Ros Kerslake, Heritage Lottery Fund chief executive, said: “December is a wonderful time to experience the UK’s rich, diverse and exciting heritage, which has been transformed by more than £7.8 billion of National Lottery funding since 1994. This is a small gesture of thanks and a way of giving something back to the people who buy tickets.”
