Motorists are being advised to plan ahead as a series of overnight roadworks and closures take place across key routes in Wales this week.

Traffic Wales has announced a number of maintenance schemes affecting sections of the M4, M48 and A470, with several slip roads and motorway stretches subject to overnight closures between 17 and 19 June.

Diversions will be in place throughout the works, which are scheduled to take place overnight to minimise disruption.

The most significant impact is expected on the M4 between Rogiet and the Second Severn Crossing, where the eastbound carriageway between Junction 23 (Rogiet) and Junction 22 will be fully closed overnight from Tuesday 17 June until Thursday 19 June.

Lane two and three will initially close between 8pm and 9pm before a full closure comes into force from 9pm until 6am. The works are being carried out as part of planned maintenance, with signed diversion routes available.

Elsewhere, motorists travelling in South Wales will also face overnight restrictions at several locations:

    • M4 westbound Junction 41 Pentyla to Baglan exit slip road, closed from 8pm to 6am on 17 and 18 June for cyclic maintenance.
    • M4 eastbound Junction 38 Margam entry slip, closed from 8pm to 6am on 17 and 18 June for maintenance works.
    • M4 westbound Junction 42 Earlswood exit slip road, closed from 8pm to 6am on 17 and 18 June for street lighting maintenance.
    • A470 southbound Taff’s Well entry slip, closed from 8pm to 6am between 17 and 19 June for maintenance works.

Drivers using the M48 will also encounter overnight works between Junction 2 (Newhouse Roundabout) and Junction 1 (Aust), including the eastbound entry and exit slip roads. The works will take place from 8pm to 6am between 17 and 19 June.

Traffic Wales is urging road users to allow extra time for journeys and follow signed diversion routes where closures are in place.

Motorists can check the latest traffic information and planned roadworks before travelling via Traffic Wales.
