The winners of the RICS Awards 2026 in Wales have been revealed and some truly impressive recent building projects are on the list.
The projects went head-to-head at a ceremony in Cardiff where Y Storfa, Swansea Hub was named Project of the Year, as well as taking home the trophy in the public sector project category.
Y Storfa is a transformative community hub created through the refurbishment of the former BHS building in Swansea city centre.
Delivered as part of Swansea Council’s £1bn regeneration programme, it brings essential public services together under one roof, including libraries, employment support, archives, learning spaces and community facilities.
Designed to revitalise a key urban location, Y Storfa promotes accessibility, sustainability and social connection while strengthening the city’s cultural and educational offer.
The hub benefits residents, families, learners, jobseekers and local businesses, establishing a vibrant civic anchor that supports long‑term community wellbeing.
The RICS UK Awards showcase the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure, recognising outstanding achievement, teamwork and companies. The winning projects at each of the regional awards ceremonies will go on to represent their region at the UK Grand Final on Thursday 22nd October.
The full list of winning projects in Wales are:
- Y Storfa, Swansea Hub – Project of the Year and Public Sector project
- Canolfan Pentre Awel, Llanelli – Community Benefit project
- Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil – Refurbishment/Revitalisation project
- Sker House, Porthcawl – Heritage project
Caerphilly Castle Regeneration Project was also highly commended in the heritage category.
The event was held at The Parkgate Hotel on Wednesday 8th July.

“The Awards are hugely important. They help demonstrate the positive impact that surveyors, as well as buildings, have on individuals and communities. They promote the role of surveying in making those projects a reality.”
