Families across Caerphilly County Borough are invited to enjoy a summer of free outdoor fun as Family Play in the Park returns for its fifth consecutive year.

Delivered in partnership between Caerphilly Play and the Early Years & Childcare Service, the project provides free opportunities for children and families to play, explore and connect in local communities throughout the summer holidays.

Inspired by this year’s National Play Day theme, “Play – here, there, everywhere!”, the project celebrates the importance of play in parks, communities and everyday spaces, encouraging children and families to get outdoors, be active and have fun throughout the summer holidays.

A series of free Play in the Park events will take place across the county borough, offering opportunities for children and young people to play, explore and enjoy time with family and friends in local green spaces.

The 2026 events will take place at:

    • Friday 31st July – Penallta Park, CF82 7GN
    • Monday 3rd August – Abercarn Welfare Ground, NP11 5AR
    • Wednesday 5th August – Morgan Jones Park, CF83 1AB
    • Friday 7th August – Rhymney (Eisteddfod Field), NP22 5NG
    • Tuesday 25th August – Abertridwr Park, CF83 4EJ
    • Wednesday 26th August – Ystrad Mynach Park, CF82 7EP
    • Thursday 27th August – Blackwood Showfield, NP12 1HZ

Cllr Carol Andrews, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education, Communities and Transformation, and Caerphilly County Borough’s Play Champion, said:
“Play is a vital part of childhood, helping children develop confidence, creativity, communication skills and independence while having fun. This year’s theme, ‘Play – here, there, everywhere!’, highlights how valuable play can be in every community. We’re proud to be celebrating the fifth summer of Play in the Park and providing opportunities for children and families to learn, explore and enjoy time together outdoors.”
