Cardiff is the latest stop on Dennis the Menace’s Summer of Mischief adventure, as this week’s issue of Beano sees the Master of Mischief, Minnie the Minx and The Bash Street Kids swap Beanotown for the Welsh capital.
The five-week comic story begins after a giant whoopee cushion prank blows every window out in Beanotown. Deciding the kids could do with learning a little good behaviour, the Mayor sends Dennis, Minnie and The Bash Street Kids on a tour of the UK and Ireland to meet children from different cities. Unsurprisingly, things don’t quite go to plan.

In Cardiff, Dennis discovers that Cardiff Castle is already home to a dragon with a mischievous streak to rival his own. Meanwhile, The Bash Street Kids swap the classroom for the rugby pitch in a match at the Principality Stadium, while Minnie accidentally derails the filming of a Doctor Who Christmas special before making an escape in a familiar blue police box.
The Summer of Mischief story unfolds over five consecutive weekly issues, with the Beanotown friends travelling from London to Cardiff before heading on to Dublin, Belfast and Edinburgh, causing mayhem and laughter wherever they go.
Mike Stirling, Beano Director of Mischief, said: “For 75 years, Dennis has shown generations of kids that the best adventures start with imagination, laughter and a bit of creative mischief. We hope families enjoy seeing familiar places through Dennis’s eyes, where every castle has room for a funny dragon, every journey feels like a Beano adventure, and every destination is a little closer to Beanotown than grown-ups might think. After all, Beanotown is only 10 minutes away, no matter where you are. As long as you travel by skateboard!”
The Cardiff issue of Beano is available from 29 July in selected supermarkets and newsagents.
