A unique community arts project is showcasing the creativity and heritage of schools across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion at this year’s National Eisteddfod.
Stori ar Sedd (Story on a Seat) has brought together schools from across the Eisteddfod region to celebrate their local communities through art, storytelling and collaboration.
Over recent months, the team at FRAME Pembrokeshire has handcrafted dozens of wooden benches that have formed the foundation of the project.
As a social enterprise, FRAME supports people facing a range of challenges by helping them develop skills, build confidence and access meaningful employment, making its contribution to the initiative particularly significant.
As the summer term came to an end, schools across the three counties transformed the benches into colourful works of art, with each design telling the story of its local area.
Using artwork, words and creative design, pupils have celebrated the history, people, landscapes and traditions that make their communities unique.
Like the project’s accompanying song, Croeso i Fro’r Garreg Las, Stori ar Sedd spans all three counties, highlighting the value of regional collaboration while encouraging young people to explore and celebrate their local identity.
The completed benches are now on display around the Maes at this year’s National Eisteddfod, creating a trail of stories from communities across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.
Together, they celebrate the creativity of local schools and the rich cultural heritage of the region.
After the Eisteddfod, each bench will return to its school, where it will remain as a permanent legacy of local pride, creativity and community partnership.
Visitors to the Maes are being encouraged to look out for the Stori ar Sedd benches and share photographs of them on social media to help celebrate the work of the schools and the partnership behind the project.
