Neath Port Talbot Council and its partners are looking for an independent volunteer Chair to lead a new Culture Partnership that will help shape the future of culture across the county.
The Partnership will bring together organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors to deliver the Neath Port Talbot Culture Strategy and build on the area’s recent success in being shortlisted for the UK Town of Culture competition.
As the Partnership’s delivery body, the new Chair will provide strategic leadership, champion collaboration and oversee progress during a key period of development. The role will also involve acting as an ambassador for culture, helping ensure the Partnership delivers meaningful benefits for local communities, places and the economy.
The council is seeking someone with strong links to Neath Port Talbot, a passion for the role of culture in shaping communities and opportunities, and experience of building effective partnerships across different sectors.
Applicants should also have governance or board level leadership experience, excellent communication and facilitation skills, and the ability to provide independent challenge while building consensus.
Experience in cultural development, regeneration, placemaking or overseeing major programmes and investment would be an advantage.
Supported by Neath Port Talbot Council officers, the successful candidate will chair Partnership meetings, help set priorities, oversee progress and keep the Partnership focused on delivering tangible outcomes.
The voluntary appointment is for an initial three year term and requires a commitment of around six to eight hours each month, including attendance at a minimum of four meetings each year. Meetings will be held both online and in person, with at least one face to face meeting taking place annually within Neath Port Talbot County Borough.
