Specsavers Newport Austin Friars is continuing its fundraising for three-year-old Teddy Sloman, with local businesses across Newport donating prizes in support of his family’s campaign.

The fundraiser supports Together for Teddy, a GoFundMe campaign run by Teddy’s family to raise money for the next phase of his treatment, which is not currently available in the UK.

Businesses across Newport have donated prizes including signed Newport County and Dragons merchandise, as well as vouchers, gifts and other prizes.

Specsavers Newport has raised almost £400 so far. Its raffle continues throughout October, with tickets available to buy in store.

Donna Fowler, store manager at Specsavers Newport Austin Friars, said: “The support we’ve received from businesses and people across Newport has been incredible.”

She said: “We’re really grateful to everyone who has donated a prize or supported the fundraising so far.”

She said: “We’re hoping the raffle will help us raise even more for Teddy and his family, while bringing the Newport community together to support such an important cause.”

The store became involved after team member Rebekah, who was in the same mother and baby group as Teddy, asked if they could help with the fundraising.

Donna Fowler added: “We wanted to do whatever we could to help and it’s been amazing to see how many local businesses have got behind the fundraising.”

She said: “We’re continuing the raffle throughout October and would love to encourage as many people as possible to get involved and help us raise as much as we can for Teddy and his family.”

Raffle tickets can be purchased at Specsavers Newport Austin Friars in store.
