Brecon-based food ingredients manufacturer Beacon Foods has invested £60,000 in new production equipment as it continues to develop its manufacturing capabilities.
The company has installed a 300-litre brat pan, allowing it to produce smaller batches of between 50 and 150 kilograms to meet customer requirements.
The new equipment is being used to manufacture a range of products, including compotes, chutneys, relishes, candied zests and other boiled ingredients.
The investment follows a significant period of expansion for Beacon Foods, which has spent more than £6 million over the past three years doubling the size of its manufacturing and storage facilities.
Jas Singh, operations director at Beacon Foods, said: “As a business, we like to be flexible when servicing customer orders of all sizes.
“We have larger kettles for customers ordering two tonnes of product, but the brat pan is ideal for smaller, 50 to 150 kilo orders.”
The stainless steel brat pan features a high-pressure steam jacket design, allowing it to reach high cooking temperatures while maintaining hygienic production standards.
Established in 1993, Beacon Foods has grown into one of the UK’s leading specialist ingredients manufacturers, supplying products to food manufacturers, foodservice operators, coffee shops, fast food chains and businesses in the travel and hospitality sectors.
The company specialises in garlic, ginger and chilli purées, roasted and chargrilled vegetables, fruit products, relishes, chutneys, sauces, soups, confit and fruit compotes.
Its ingredients are used in thousands of everyday food products, including sandwiches, ready meals, pizzas, soups, drinks and desserts.
These products can be found on supermarket shelves and are also served by airlines, restaurant chains and coffee shops across the UK.
The latest £60,000 investment will allow Beacon Foods to handle smaller production orders alongside its existing larger-scale manufacturing operations.
