Alma House on Duncan Street in Laugharne has sold for £107,000 at Paul Fosh Auctions.
The historic stone property, with partly exposed pink-rendered walls, was listed with an auction guide price of £39,000.
Heidi Wangeman, of the auctioneers, said: “The eye-catching historic pink property in the heart of Laugharne got people talking when it was first put up for auction. And this presale interest was continued throughout the online auction when a total of 42 online bids from four individuals were lodged before the hammer fell at £107,000.”
She said the sale offered the new owner the chance to take on a refurbishment project in Laugharne, which is linked with Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, whose boathouse and writing shed are just down the road from Alma House. Laugharne Castle is also close by.
Alma House was sold with vacant possession. It is a two-minute walk from Laugharne Castle and the Taf Estuary.
The ground floor, where initial refurbishment work has revealed stone-built walls, has a kitchen, three further rooms and a conservatory. The first floor, where renovation work has also started, provides four rooms and a bathroom. The accommodation requires refurbishment throughout and offers a flexible layout for a purchaser to reconfigure, subject to all necessary consents.
The next Paul Fosh Auctions online sale, with some 100-plus lots, starts at 12 noon on Tuesday 10 November and ends from 2pm on Thursday 12 November.
