Global engineering management and consultancy specialist Mott MacDonald is moving its Cardiff team to 2 Callaghan Square.

The company has taken a 10 year lease on 8,712 sq ft offices on the third floor of 2 Callaghan Square at an annual rental of £21.50 per sq ft.  Landlord Harmsworth was advised in the transaction by property consultancy Knight Frank.  Savills represented Mott MacDonald.

Grace Shackell, of Knight Frank’s office agency team in Cardiff said: “2 Callaghan Square is one of Cardiff’s best-located office buildings in the city, having been constructed by MEPC in the first phase of the development.

“Callaghan Square is widely regarded as one of the prime office locations and Mott MacDonald’s new neighbours include HSBC, Eversheds and AECOM. The landlord has completed the refurbishment of the Grade A offices, and just two 6,000 sq ft offices now remain available; with the planned reception refurbishment works due to commence imminently we are confident the two remaining suites will let within a small matter of time.”

Knight Frank’s Building Consultancy team in Cardiff project managed the refurbishment works on behalf of the landlord.

Gary Carver of Savills added: “After carrying out an extensive search of the market it was clear that 2 Callaghan Square was the best match for Mott MacDonald’s requirements in terms of quality, location and amenities.”

Callaghan Square is located within the Cardiff Central Enterprise Zone and forms part of Cardiff Council’s multi-million-pound vision for a new Central Business District in the heart of the city centre.

In recent months reinsurance specialist Aon Benfield signed a 10 year lease on a 11,105 sq ft office suite on the second floor of 2 Callaghan Square, and the Church in Wales – the Anglican church in Wales – took 10,773 sq ft of office space on the fourth floor on a 15 year lease.
