South Wales Police has launched an investigation following the sudden death of a young man in the Ely area of Cardiff yesterday afternoon afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene of an incident – woodland adjacent to Trelai Park – at approximately 4pm yesterday (Monday, 27 May 2019).

Despite attempts to save the 22 year-old man, who is from the local area, he was pronounced deceased shortly after at the University Hospital of Wales.

His family are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time.

An investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident is now underway.

Anybody who has information that they deem is relevant should contact South Wales Police via 101 immediately, giving reference *190981.

Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
