Teaching, leadership and standards have been described as ‘Excellent’ in Ysgol Dyffryn Cledlyn’s first Estyn report.

The Estyn report found that standards; wellbeing and attitudes to learning; teaching and learning experiences and leadership and management was ‘excellent’ in the school. The report found that Care support and guidance is ‘Good’ at the school.

Ysgol Dyffryn Cledlyn opened in September 2017 after a merger of Cwrtnewydd, Llanwnnen and Llanwenog primary schools. The school is managed by Ceredigion County Council and was built using Welsh Government 21st Century Schools funding.

Carol Davies is the school’s Headteacher. She said, “We are very proud of our whole team achievement in a short period of time and are extremely pleased that the pupils efforts have been recognised.”

“As we merged we worked hard to listen to our pupils and their needs and consequently the ‘belonging’ to a new establishment came as a new exciting adventure. I’d like to thank the whole team for their dedication and commitment in ensuring that Ysgol Dyffryn Cledlyn has achieved these excellent outcomes.”

Councillor Catrin Miles is Ceredigion County Council’s Cabinet member responsible for Learning Services. She said, “Ysgol Dyffryn Cledlyn’s first Estyn report is a ringing endorsement of the hard work shown by staff, pupils and governors in the school. They deserve every congratulations on their success.”

“Despite being a new school, Ysgol Dyffryn Cledlyn is already a happy centre of the community. It shows that the council’s modernising programme is giving Ceredigion children a top level education.”

Estyn is led by Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales. It inspects quality and standards of schools across Wales.
