An all-new website and innovative ‘My Account’ facility will make it easier for people to access council services in Bridgend County Borough from today (24 April).

Residents no longer have to queue or wait on the telephone to make payments or request council services thanks to the new site, which has been developed following feedback from 87 per cent of people who said they wanted better, faster and more interactive online services.

Designed to be easily viewed and used on devices that range from smartphones and tablets to PCs and laptops, the website is fully accessible and user-friendly, and features improved search facilities and online forms.

It also features a round-the-clock online hub called My Account which makes it quick and easy for people to do council-related tasks, 24 hours a day.

This includes things like viewing a council tax bill, applying for housing benefit, requesting discounts and exemptions, making online payments, setting up and managing direct debits, subscribing to e-billing and much more.

As My Account develops, it will be expanded to enable people to do things like report potholes, apply for places at local schools, pay for school meals and let the authority know about faulty street lights.

“The launch of our new accessible website and secure My Account service gives people greater choice and freedom in deciding how they want to contact and do business with the council.

It offers far greater versatility and convenience, and lets people choose when, where and how they wish to access services.

Registration is fast, easy and secure, and I hope that people will take full advantage of the benefits that My Account offers.”

    Council Leader Huw David

Deputy Leader Hywel Williams added: ““The new website and My Account reflect how we are finding innovative solutions to the ongoing challenges faced by local government.

“It will help generate savings, especially if people use My Account to opt for e-billing instead of using the more traditional ‘bill in the post’ method.”
