Staff and customers from Trivallis have been thanked after raising more than £8,600 for Tenovus Cancer Care.

Over the past two years staff and customers from the Rhondda Cynon Taf-based housing association have been raising money for Wales’ leading cancer charity by taking on fundraising challenges, including a 150km bike ride and braving one of the UK’s longest zip wires.

Lisa Roberts, Community Projects Officer at Trivallis, said: “Supporting Tenovus Cancer Care is something our customers and staff voted for and feel very passionate about.

“It’s been a great two years and we are so grateful to everyone who put their hands in their pockets to help us smash our £6,000 target and raise over £8,600.

“Everyone is affected by cancer at some point in their lives, whether it’s personally or through seeing a family member or friend go through it. We are proud to support Tenovus Cancer Care as they help fund vital research, provide services for people affected by cancer and promote healthy lifestyles to prevent cancer in the first place.”

Ceri Hill, Regional Fundraising Manager at Tenovus Cancer Care, said: “We were thrilled when Trivallis customers and staff chose Tenovus Cancer Care as their charity partner and it’s been a fantastic relationship.

“Everyone really got on board with the fundraising events, from organising their own challenges like a gruelling coast-to-city cycle across South West Wales and a tough Trivallis Triathlon. Over the last two years Trivallis has held fundraising days across RCT, with both staff and customers joining in with our Go Pink campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a ‘Dry January’ mocktail afternoon tea.

“To help raise awareness for Tenovus Cancer Care’s services to staff and customers our Sing with Us Pontypridd choir performed at their customer fun day in Ynysangharad Park, Pontypridd, where we also held cancer prevention talks and offered health checks to staff.

“We’re pleased to be able to say the money they’ve raised will have such an impact locally, supporting people that have been affected by cancer.”
