    Mother who died in Vale collision will be ‘dearly missed by everyone’

    South Wales Police is investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the B4265 at Fonmon in the Vale of Glamorgan.

    At approximately 5.45pm on Wednesday, July 3 a blue BMW 1 series and an orange Kia Picanto collided at the junction with Fonmon.

    The two occupants of the Kia Picanto were conveyed to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

    However despite the best efforts of medical staff the driver of the Kia, Jeanette Macdonald from the Barry and St Athan areas died of her injuries.

    The other occupant of the Kia, a 19-year-old woman remains in hospital in a stable condition.

    Jeanette’s family has issued the following statement:

    “We as a family are devastated by the tragic and sudden loss of Jeanette.

    “A loving mother, sister, daughter and auntie, Jeanette had the softest heart and would do anything for anyone.

    “Nothing was ever too much, whether with friends, family or with the children and colleagues she worked with.

    “Jeanette will be dearly missed by everyone whose life she touched.”

    The B4265 was closed for approximately five hours to allow for investigation work to be carried out.

    The community is thanked for their patience and understanding during this time.

    Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, any person who may have observed the manner of driving of the vehicles prior to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage relating to incident.
