The family of a grandfather who died following a collision in Cardiff’s Cathedral Road say he will be deeply missed.

Eddie Gerrard was declared deceased at the scene of the incident, which occurred at about 5.45pm on Thursday, July 25.

A grey Jaguar XKR vehicle, which was being driven by the 74-year-old and had been travelling along Cathedral Road, is believed to have collided with a number of other vehicles.

His family said: “Eddie was a loving husband to wife Anna, doting father to Sean and wife Sarah, and will be sadly missed by three beautiful grandchildren – Sophie, Emma and Shannon, who knew him as Teddy.

“He will be deeply missed by wider family, friends and colleagues who knew him. Rest in peace.”

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, who stopped to provide assistance, or who may have seen the Jaguar being driven prior to the collision.

The road was closed for approximately four hours while an initial investigation was conducted and vehicles recovered. South Wales Police would like to thank those affected by the closure for their patience and understanding.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Wales Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting occurrence 1900272359.
