Local community pub reopens for business in Llantwit Fardre

Local community pub, the newly renamed ‘Brown Trout’ in South Wales is reopening this week on Friday 4th October following an extensive interior and exterior refurbishment in Llantwit Fardre, Wales. The opening evening will unveil the refurbishment to the locals which has included an interior and exterior overhaul, new signage and a brand-new garden.

The pub, previously known as the New Inn, has undergone an £88,000 refurbishment by community pub company Admiral Taverns, who have worked alongside new licensee David Phillips to turn the Brown Trout into a family friendly contemporary pub with modern features and a few references to fly fishing!

David previously worked for ten years as the marketing manager at Garry Evans Fishing Tackle Centres, and has a strong knowledge of the industry, but this is the first pub which he’s running.

Dave commented: “I’m thrilled to be taking over the Brown Trout and excited to make the most of the opportunity which is there. Admiral have been very supportive throughout the entire process and their business support agreement (BSA) has given me the help I needed to get the business up and running. We want to make it a pub for everybody to enjoy, whether that’s a group of friends, family or even your dog, we cater for everyone at the Brown Trout.

I’m also really excited about the newly fashioned garden, which historically was an unused space and Admiral have helped me turn it into a cosy outdoor area which should be fantastic with the Rugby World Cup coming up.”

As well as the refurbishment, David is also planning to hold regular live musical events and utilise the function room which had previously been neglected. A new food offer to tempt in the locals will launch shortly after the opening and include a selection of traditional pub meals to be made from locally sourced ingredients.

Admiral Taverns’ Business Development Manager, Alex Marchant added: “We’re thrilled Dave has taken on the tenancy at the Brown Trout. He and his team have a fantastic vision for the pub, and it looks great following the refurbishment. It’s a welcoming spot for the locals to enjoy and is a real hub for the community. Definitely one to pop in and try if you are in the local area!”
