Local Welsh charity, City Hospice is encouraging the people of south Wales to raise their auction paddles for their annual art exhibition and auction.

Held at the beautiful arts and culture space, Cornerstone on Charles Street, guests can enjoy complimentary canapés and a drinks reception whilst viewing a range of thought-provoking art pieces that have been donated to City Hospice by artists across Wales and the UK. The art pieces will be then auctioned off by BBC One Bargain Hunt auctioneer, Ben Rogers-Jones to help raise vital funds for the charity.

City Hospice need to raise £2million a year to provide the level of care they offer. They are the only charity in Cardiff that offer care and support to their patients at home, as well as offering additional therapies and day clinics at their centre including counselling, occupational therapy and alternative therapies.

Ben Roger-Jones, auctioneer, said: “I’m delighted to be the auctioneer for City Hospice’s charity art auction again this year. The charity does such a wonderful job and I know the money raised from all sales will go directly to helping them care for patients in Cardiff. I’ll be wielding my gavel to raise as much money as possible!”

Some of the artists who have donated to the auction include Welsh artist, Elizabeth Haines who donates an abstract oil painting of Priselli; Bath-based artist, Peter Brown a.ka Pete the Street, and internationally acclaimed Welsh / Italian artist, Andrew Vicari who, during his time was appointed as the as the official painter to the King and Government of Saudi Arabia.

Liz Andrews, Chief Executive of City Hospice, would like to thank all of the artists who have donated pieces of artwork to the auction.

[bs-quote quote=”Our annual art auction is an amazing event that celebrates creativity whilst also raising vital funds for our charity. I want to thank all the artists for donating pieces of artwork to our auction. They come from across Wales, the UK and even include donations from closer to home, from staff and also families we have helped. We are so grateful for their support and we look forward to seeing lots of individuals at our auction.” style=”style-21″ align=”center” color=”#81d742″ author_name=”Liz Andrews” author_job=”Chief Executive at City Hospice” author_avatar=”https://www.wales247.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/liz-andrews-small.jpg”][/bs-quote]

The City Hospice charity auction is being held as part of their Light Up a Life campaign, which runs from 1st October to 31st December. The event is a special annual event where individuals can come together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones with City Hospice. All funds that have been raised as part of the campaign will be match-funded by the Hodge Foundation.
