Credas, the Cardiff-based business that has developed ground-breaking facial recognition software to speed up identity verification across a range of sectors, celebrates its first year in business.

In its first year, the company has made a number of significant achievements, including:

    • Starting with two employees, the team now has 14 staff behind it and is currently recruiting for Technical Account Management and Sales roles.
    • It has over 50 customers using all or part of its facial recognition and identity verification technology across the estate agency, accountancy, legal, recruitment, and construction sectors.
    • It has also secured its first cryptocurrency client, heralding a move into another new sector.
    • It has formed partnerships the ESTAS (The Estate Agent of the Year Awards) and The Guild of Property Professionals, as well as securing a place on the shortlist for the Wales Technology (Estnet) Awards – Sir Michael Moritz Start-up of the Year and Innovative Product of the Year categories.
    • This month, Credas has been shortlisted in three categories for the Wales Online Digital Awards – Best Mobile App, Best Digital Start-Up and Best Merging Technology categories.

Credas’ CEO Rhys David said on the anniversary:

“It’s been an exceptional year for us and we’ve managed to surpass all expectations we had for our first year in business. We’ve got a great product team in place, and behind it all is an exceptional team – we really believe we have developed the best facial recognition and identity verification technology in the marketplace and are fulfilling a genuine business need.

“Our technology can help any business where a customer needs to be verified and we’ve developed a quick and easy way to help businesses fulfil this, with the peace of mind that they’re compliant and that the data is fully secure. I’ve been really excited about the technology since day one and it’s been even better to see it integrated into different sectors. We have also just secured our first cryptocurrency client which is another exciting area of development for us and the technology.”

Credas has developed a suite of products and services designed to cut the time and cost it takes to verify more than 4000 types of identification. It provides an easy and secure way to match ID photos with the actual person instantly either using a mobile enabled portal. ensuring that the verification process can happen swiftly, safely and at any time that’s convenient to the client and user.

Credas’ technology works in a range of sectors, including recruiters, mortgage and finance providers and any business which needs to verify ID to comply with regulations. It can help companies comply with Right to Rent, anti-money laundering, modern slavery, know your customer and anti-fraud legislation.
