Older people in Llanberis and surrounding villages are invited to try still life drawing, painting and printmaking at a free art session on Thursday 7th June at Y Festri, Goodman Street, Llanberis.

The free class takes place at 1-3pm and is part of First Time for Everything, a programme designed by Royal Voluntary Service and Prudential to give older people in North Wales (and across the UK) an opportunity to try something new for free in their local community.  Staying active and social have been proven to be important to keeping fit and well in older age.

Local community artists Abbie Parry and Thomasine Juliet Tomkins from Y Festri where they run the local art group, Make your Marks, will be demonstrating how to draw and paint from still life and experiment with printmaking techniques.  Taking part in creative and cultural activities has been cited as being a significant contributor to improving well-being in later life.

Participants will have the opportunity to draw and paint a still life display of fruits and spring flowers and experiment with printmaking techniques. No experience or artistic skills are needed as the emphasis is on having fun and being inspired to have a go. Tea, cake and biscuits will be served afterwards and there will also be an opportunity to hear about other local Royal Voluntary Service activities for older people that may be of interest.

To book a place at the Prudential First Time for Everything art session in Y Festri, Llanberis, contact Wendy Rogers at Royal Voluntary Service on 07825 503046 or email [email protected].
