Some schools across Wales have started to close or partially close, despite official advice from Government that they should stay open.

Cardiff is one local authority allowing you to check online to see if your primary, secondary or further education school is still open. At the time of writing, all schools remain open in Cardiff.

The school checker page shows the open or closed status of all Cardiff schools that are managed by Cardiff Council. Staff at the school and within the council’s education team are able to update the status of a school should it need to close for any reason.

    • Visit Cardiff Council’s “Is my school open?” checker for the very latest information.

However, it is becoming clear that closures may be become inevitable, as The National Education Union has called for the closure of all schools in Wales and England.

The education union has written to the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, calling for the Government to close schools and colleges and protect vulnerable educators or those caring for at risk family members.

*At the time of publication, all schools in Cardiff remain open.
