Cardiff Dogs Home provides a vital service to the city; not only provide a re-homing service, but also carrying out neutering and micro-chipping and volunteering opportunities.

From 24th March, the home brought in a new fostering scheme to help place as many dogs as possible into foster homes for 3 weeks. Cardiff Dogs Home have recruited 80 foster carers and have been overwhelmed with the response to help them in the event that the kennels fill up as the situation becomes more limited.

They can’t allow anyone into the kennels at this time due to the coronavirus outbreak, but you can still look at the website and identify dogs you are interested in.

If you are interested in re-homing a dog permanently, please check the Dogs Home website for details of all dogs awaiting rehoming, and give the team a call.

How to re-home one of these dogs

To re-home a dog register your details online here or call Cardiff Dogs Home on 029 2071 1243 to make an appointment.

They don’t take applications online. Potential new owners must first meet and get matched to a dog before being invited to put an application in. They recommend printing an application form and bringing it with you when you visit Cardiff Dogs Home.

Note: Introductions are not currently possible but they will keep your details and be in touch when introductions start again.

Interested in walking one of the dogs?

Cardiff Dogs Home is still accepting stray dogs, however the premises are currently open for registered dog walkers only.

If you chose to walk dogs for the home, this will count as your daily exercise opportunity. Time slots must be booked in advance by calling Cardiff Dogs Home, so that social distancing rules can be followed.

Dog walkers will be able to walk the pups for a maximum one hour.
