Today (30th March 2020) the Port of Milford Haven has announced rent support to its tenants with charitable status.
Charities such as Patch, Paul Sartori and others will be given a three-month rent-free period to see them through this extremely challenging time.
Andy Jones, CEO at the Port of Milford Haven, said: “We are all facing an uncertain couple of months ahead, but we recognise that charities are a vital part of Pembrokeshire’s community. And to many, they are a lifeline. We felt it was important to help them help the most vulnerable in our community and we hope that this rent-free period will go some way towards that.”
Commenting on the announcement, Tracy Olin, Manager at Patch, said: “We are so thankful to the Port for this support. Yet again they have stepped in to help us, while we help those less fortunate in our county. The money saved on rent will go towards purchasing much needed food as well as fuel for our delivery vans.”
Andy Jones, CEO at the Port, added: “As a business we are firmly rooted to Pembrokeshire and as a Trust Port we have a purpose to build the Haven’s prosperity. This purpose is backed passionately by our staff who are eager to support the local community in as many ways as we can as we collectively battle with the threat that Covid-19 has brought to all our lives.
“We are continuing to look for other ways to support our community and we are talking with our commercial tenants about how we can support them, however we are very aware that our own financial position is also uncertain and so we must be cautious. Without doubt, the best way we can contribute to the UK’s effort to beat this virus is to keep our port running safely and efficiently, providing fuel and vital food and medical supplies to the Country. Our staff, as key workers, are central to this and therefore their health and wellbeing remains our core focus.”
