Caerphilly County Borough Council has obtained a Partial Closure Order on a property, in the north of the borough.
It was issued by Newport Magistrates Court, after problems with drug use, drug dealing, antisocial behaviour, fighting and damage to the property.
This had been causing disturbance, upset and anxiety to neighbours. Police regularly had to attend.
The Partial Closure Order was served to help the tenant, who is vulnerable, take back control of the property, where he will remain. It excludes everyone from the address apart from the tenant, professionals and a person that provides support. Anyone else found at the address will be in breach of the Order and can be arrested.
The Order, which is displayed on the front door as required, is valid for three months and may be extended for a further three, following review. It was served by Newport Magistrates Court on June 25. The exact address is not being publicised, to protect the vulnerable tenant.
Cllr Lisa Phipps, the council’s Cabinet Member for Homes and Places, said: “We welcome the Court’s decision to grant the Order, which should prevent further incidents of nuisance and criminality at this property. This Partial Closure Order will both help a vulnerable resident and protect neighbours.”
Since lockdown, Tenancy Enforcement has seen an increase of over 58% in the number of referrals being received. The biggest increase has been for noise nuisance issues and we ask that tenants and residents are mindful of making excessive noise that could disturb others.
