JCP Solicitors has announced the promotion of two Directors to Business Owner Directors.

Head of the Lifetime Planning Disputes Team, Richard Howells, and Marketing Director, Amy Seppman, join 12 other Business Owners at the regional law firm which has nine offices across South Wales.

Richard Howells joined JCP as an Associate Solicitor in 2006 working in the Commercial Litigation Team specialising in wills, estates, trusts and property. He was appointed salaried Partner, following which he moved to head up the firm’s Carmarthen office where he set up and developed the firm’s Lifetime Planning Disputes Team. Richard is one of just a handful of legal professionals in Wales to be fully ACTAPS accredited; he is listed as an ‘Elite Leading Lawyer’ in industry bible, The Legal 500, and has previously been shortlisted for the Institute of Directors Young Director of the Year Awards. Commenting on his appointment, he said: “Having spent most of my career at JCP, I am absolutely delighted to have been made a Business Owner at the firm. I am excited to continue to work alongside all my colleagues to further JCP’s substantial track record and well-earned reputation as one of the leading law firms in Wales.”

Amy Seppman is one of five non-lawyers Directors at JCP, and now the second non-lawyer Business Owner alongside CEO Hayley Davies. Amy started her career with JCP in 2003,  moving into marketing in 2006. She was appointed as Marketing Director and salaried Partner in 2013 and has been instrumental in driving the marketing strategy ever since. Amy sits on the Board of Swansea Bay Business Club and is a committee member for the South West Wales Brain Injury Group. She has been recognised as one of the top 35 women under 35 to watch in Wales and has been a finalist in the Rising Star Category of the Swansea Bay Women in Business Awards. Commenting on becoming a Business Owner Director, she said: “I started my career here at JCP at just 19 years old. JCP has a very long history of growing our own so it’s a great honour to complete my journey to Business Owner. I look forward to working with my fellow Directors and colleagues as we continue to grow the firm and meet the exciting challenges of the months and years ahead.”

The appointments, which have been ongoing since December 2019 but were delayed in completing due to the pandemic, come just a month after JCP announced the appointment of two new Directors as the firm continues to focus on its growth and quality of service despite the challenging conditions brought on by the lockdown period. JCP’s CEO, Hayley Davies, said: “I offer my warmest congratulations to Amy and Richard for their appointments which are testament to their hard work and dedication. Both of them have shown tireless dedication to the firm and a keen understanding of their respective areas of expertise. As a firm, we have always placed an emphasis on investing in organic growth of our team and both Amy and Richard’s journeys at JCP reflect this. It is particularly lovely that they have progressed their careers here at JCP together, first becoming salaried Partners at the same time in 2013 and now Business Owners.

“At what is a very difficult time for businesses, Amy and Richard are playing pivotal roles in navigating the firm and supporting our clients through these strange times. We know that their expertise will support our future growth and success as we begin to move forward post lockdown.”
