There are a number of places available at sixth forms across the city for September, and pupils completing Year 11 this summer are encouraged to discover the varied range of options available to them.

From Cyber Security and Performing Arts to Environmental Science and Travel & Tourism,  Cardiff’s Post 16 provision for the 2020/21 Academic year has a diverse and interesting choice of courses on offer.

In addition, some sixth forms can still accommodate pupils on many of the more traditional subjects such as Mathematics, Law, History and Business Studies.

Cabinet Member for Education, Employment and Skills, Cllr Sarah Merry said: “Young people across the city may be feeling anxious or worried following what has been a disruptive and challenging few months, for both their education and their lives in general.

“With the cancellation of exams and a new model for the way qualifications are awarded, it is essential that Year 11 pupils are supported and signposted to the range of excellent opportunities available to them, following GSCE’s.

Cllr Merry added: “Cardiff boasts some excellent Post 16 facilities with an impressive range of courses and subjects. Those who are expecting GCSE results this month are not tied to returning to their former school either, but instead should consider their individual interests and explore all of the choices available to them, across the whole of the city.“

Some examples of courses available from sixth forms across the city include:
