Local business uses tasty tactics to raise much needed funds for charity

You’re local, we’re local, let’s work together and make a difference. This is the thinking that brought local business Liberty Marketing and local charity Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale together to raise much needed funds towards the charity’s work supporting vulnerable and isolated older people.

“Liberty’s BIG Feastival” – foodie raffle did just that! Smashing it’s target by more than double the online raffle brought in £1,074. For just £3 an entry, members of the public were offered a chance of winning one of five delicious foodie bundles. All sourced from community focused suppliers such as Brother Thai, Dusty Knuckle, Franks Hotdogs, Graze And Thyme, Heaney’s, Heavy Hand Bakes, Kin & Ilk, Lucinda’s Kitchen, Matsudai Ramen, Puckin Poutine, Street Food Warehouse, The Bearded Tacos, The Dough Thrower, The Juboraj and The Welsh Picnic Pantry. The raffle closed on Friday 31st July and the lucky winners have since been selected at random.

Emily Benwell, Brand Manager at Liberty Marketing and the brains behind the Feastival idea explains the motivation to get involved and give back: “All of us at Liberty Marketing feel strongly that giving something back to the community in which you live and work can bring an enormous sense of pride. Supporting local older residents who have spent their entire lives living in and contributing to their communities is especially rewarding.

There’s something special about knowing that your donation has made a difference that you can actually see. Every penny that the Feastival raffle has raised will help Age Connects support the many thousands of older people who desperately need help in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. I’d also like to thank all of our generous foodie suppliers who kindly donated prizes”.

Karen Steele, Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale Marketing and Partnerships Manager went on to add “As a local charity, we were absolutely thrilled when Emily approached us with her fantastic idea. It was great to see that the team at Liberty share our passion that older people should be treated with the help and dignity that they rightly deserve and believe in supporting the local community at grassroots level. The pandemic has resulted in an increasing demand for our services among isolated older people (helping to fight loneliness, and shopping/prescription requests, etc) and I would urge other local businesses wanting to help to please get in touch. Your support can make an almighty difference to small local charity such as ours”.
