Salop Leisure signs sponsorship deal with Aberdovey Golf Club

Shrewsbury-based caravan and motorhome dealership Salop Leisure has teed off the second year of a three-year sponsorship deal with Aberdovey Golf Club, famous for its championship links course.

The company, which has satellite sales centres in Machynlleth and Stourport-on-Severn, is sponsoring the club’s scorecards and two major competitions – the men’s open and senior men’s open.

In return, the club is to have a promotional banner at Salop Leisure’s Machynlleth sales centre and the two organisations are investigating other ways of working together for their mutual benefit.

“We are delighted to have agreed this sponsorship deal with Aberdovey Golf Club, which has many members from Shropshire and is popular with golfers who own caravan holidays homes along the coast,” said Salop Leisure’s chairman Tony Bywater.

“We supply caravan holiday homes to many parks in the area and it made good sense to work together to support the club, its members and visiting golfers.”

Peter Llewellyn, from Aberdovey Golf Club, said: “We print 24,000 scorecards which are used by everyone who plays our course. Salop Leisure has an advert on each scorecard which is seen by all club members and visiting golfers.

“It’s an excellent deal for both the club and Salop Leisure because it links together a well known local enterprise and the membership of one of Wales’ top golf clubs.

“Salop Leisure also sponsors two of club’s major competitions which attract members from across the Midlands, many of whom own caravan holiday homes in the Aberdyfi area and are customers of Salop Leisure.”

Aberdovey’s championship golf course, which is one of the top three in Wales and included in the UK’s top 100, hosts the Welsh Seniors Open, a Ladies Home International tournament and several national competitions every year.
