Topland – one of the UK’s largest privately owned investment groups – has gained consent for a landmark development of 585 student beds in Cardiff city centre. The scheme, on Greyfriars Road, will be centered around a 28-storey tower, replacing a vacant 1960s office building, Friary House, that formerly housed Tiger Tiger nightclub. An aviation servicing company has acquired new commercial premises thanks to a six-figure funding package from HSBC UK. Aero Engine Services Ltd, based in Pontypridd, has purchased Merlin House, a new 8000 square foot premises in Cardiff, to be used as warehouse storage space and office space. The acquisition of this space will allow the business to continue its growth trajectory and double its team of four to eight in 2024. The extraordinary success of students such as Caitlin Tanner who were the first in their families to attend university is being highlighted in a new national campaign, led by Universities UK. Caitlin studied  adult nursing at Swansea University’s Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science and graduated with first class honours. As part of its journey to net zero worldwide, global medical products and technologies company Convatec is preparing plans to use local wind and sun to create its own green energy which would be used to power its manufacturing operation in Rhymney, South Wales.
