Parents from Rhos-on-Sea are fundraising to thank the neonatal unit charity Cuddles, which cared for their premature son. Finley was born last June at 29 weeks, weighing only 2 lbs and 14oz. Finley, now 12 months old, spent the first five weeks of his life at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, before being transferred to Ysbyty Gwynedd for six weeks. His parents, Adam and Anwen Brierley, now hope to raise over £2,000 to thank the staff at Cuddles by participating in a 34-mile sponsored walk between both hospitals. In just under one months’ time, over 2,200 athletes will descend on Swansea to compete in the 3rd sold-out edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea. Amongst them will be Nikki Bartlett who claimed a 2nd place finish at last year’s race, followed by a victory in the country at IRONMAN Wales last September. Students from Porthcawl Comprehensive School have trailblazed their way to London to perform in a play directed by Year 12 pupil, Wil Morgans, at the National Theatre later this month. Berw Road Car Park in Pontypridd town centre will be closed for a two-week period from June 24 to carry out concrete repairs. The public car park next to Pontypridd Police Station will close from Monday, June 24. It is planned to reopen to town centre visitors from Monday, July 8 – however, the closure could be shortened based on progress. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated via the Council’s social media. During recent routine highway inspections, further movement has been noted on the A469 Between Pontlottyn and Tirphil which has resulted in cracks over several areas both within the current live lane and the lane that is closed to traffic. Some of these cracks are associated with vertical displacements. CCBC will be undertaking reinstatement works in these areas. The resurfacing and crack sealing that is required is in the lane that is currently open to traffic and therefore will require a full road closure to remediate.
