Officers in Barry are trying to trace a woman in the Southerndown area after a call of concern from a member of the public. Thought to be in her 50s, the woman was seen on Southerndown Beach last night, Saturday 30th September, around 10.30pm. It’s believed she then walked up Beach Road towards the Golden Cups pub. She is described as white, around 5ft 6, of medium build with short brown hair. She was last seen wearing a dark green cardigan and light blue jeans. A new childcare setting in Brecon has been opened by First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford. The new setting which opened its doors to families earlier this month will provide high quality, free Flying Start childcare for two-year-olds and will also be used to run parenting groups and training. In addition, 3 and 4 year olds will also be able to access Foundation Learning and Childcare Offer provision from the site. There is one month to go before a number of single use plastic items will be banned from being sold across Wales. In December 2022, Wales made history by becoming the first part of the UK to legislate against a thorough list of single-use plastics when the Senedd approved legislation to ban selling unnecessary, disposable products to consumers. South Wales is the region benefiting most from an innovative partnership between the RSPCA and petcare company Purina, funding vital veterinary treatments for pet owners in need. More than £75,000 of vet treatments have already been provided to owners – including £7,313.47 of vouchers in South Wales, placing it highest among all regions in England and Wales benefitting from the scheme.
