Welsh pop legend Aloma James has spoken movingly about how she was in a “dark place” after being diagnosed with lung cancer. After battling chronic fatigue syndrome or ME for decades, the news earlier this year that she had cancer came as a huge shock to Anglesey-born Aloma, one half of the hugely popular duo, Tony and Aloma. Thankfully, she has been able to “ring the bell” to mark being all-clear after undergoing radiotherapy. She received the treatment just before recording a special episode of the S4C entertainment series, Noson Lawen, which will celebrate the pair’s 60 years in showbusiness.…

Residents and interested parties in Ceredigion are being asked for their views on the Lampeter, Llandysul and Tregaron conservation areas. Conservation areas are distinct areas of special architectural or historic merit, of which Ceredigion is blessed with 13 in total. Ceredigion County Council is required, from time to time, to review these areas and formulate proposals for their preservation and enhancement. To do this the Council is undertaking or updating its Conservation Area Appraisals to identify what makes an area special and any opportunities or problems which may exist. Wrexham AFC stars of today have been picking up tips from a club legend ahead of a crunch FA Cup match. Reds’ goalkeepers Luke McNicholas and Liam Hall paid a visit to see former club captain Gareth Davies at Pendine Park’s Hillbury care home in Wrexham where he now lives. In a steadfast commitment to supporting its local communities, Swansea Building Society has announced generous donations totalling £3,000 to eight South Wales foodbanks this Christmas. An investigation was launched after 23-year-old William Bush was found with injuries at an address in Chapel Street at around 11.30am on Sunday, December 24. In a statement, his family said: “This week our beloved Will was taken away from us in such a cruel and indescribable way. Will was such a loyal, funny and caring son, brother and boyfriend.
