AN INSPIRING student has written a series of books for children with autism. Amy Le Dain, from Buckley, created Autism and Sea following her own experiences with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and wants to help young people to better understand the condition. A nine-year-old military child from New Inn in Pontypool has been awarded by the charity, Little Troopers, after setting up a school club to support other military children who have parents serving in the British Armed Forces. Gregor Allan, who’s Dad serves in the Royal Air Force, was nominated for the ‘Little Trooper of the Month Award’ by one of his teachers at New Inn Primary School. Local sporting clubs, community groups and charities in Swansea are set to get free access to use council-owned playing fields, parks and outdoor spaces as the city emerges from the pandemic. Under proposals being seen by Swansea Council’s Cabinet charges for using facilities like sports pitches, parks and beaches for community football, rugby, cricket, outdoor exercise classes will be suspended up until 31st March, 2022. Porthcawl Library has been officially reopened by the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough, Councillor Ken Watts, following a recent refurbishment. A grant from the Local Government Cultural Service Fund (Welsh Government Culture and Sport Division) has been used to reconfigure and redecorate the front-half of the library, increase the size of the children’s library, and to improve the area featuring public computers so that it offers greater privacy and easier access to other resources such as printers. Pupils at Mount Stuart Primary school are playing their part in Cardiff’s journey towards being carbon neutral by 2030, helping to plant 1,000 trees at the school. The saplings were given to the school to mark the launch of the council’s One Planet Cardiff response to the climate emergency.
