A global provider of sports equipment is set for further expansion after announcing the acquisition of a new 47-acre site in North Wales. With the help of a £1.6million loan from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, Net World Sports, which currently exports high quality sporting products to more than 180 countries worldwide, will continue to grow its operations with the addition of the new site in Wrexham. Young people from across Wales came together to mark the 25th anniversary of the international Eco-Schools programme at a series of National Eco-Committee events. Nearly 150 young people from 65 primary schools took part in the three events held at Bedwellty Park in Tredegar, National Botanic Garden of Wales in Llanarthne, Canolfan Cae Cymro in Clawddnewydd on 21 November. As well looking back at 25 years of Eco-Schools, the ‘climate crusaders’ investigated the devastating impact of climate change on wildlife. Swansea’s Singleton Park will host 20,000 music fans next summer when rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen take to the stage. The global stars will headline a day also featuring rock/pop-punk four-piece You Me At Six, Welsh indie-rockers Feeder and dark pop-rock band Yonaka. Swansea Council, which manages the park, will build the music site on behalf of the promoter as they have done with previous gigs there. A narrowboat legend was honoured at a glittering ceremony to celebrate a record year in the North Wales tourism industry. Over the years Peter Jones, proprietor of Jones the Boats, has ferried tens of thousands of passengers over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which is a World Heritage Site. But after more than 25 years, the 83-year-old has decided to retire and he was given a Special Recognition Award at the Go North Wales Tourism Awards. The homes are being built for Newydd Housing Association, a charitable housing association that offers nearly 3000 affordable homes for rent or for sale. JG Hale Construction is a Wales-based firm recognised for its commitment to innovative, eco-friendly design, quality materials and finishes and sustainable building practices.
