A former care home in the heart of Merthyr Tydfil has been redeveloped to provide temporary accommodation housing for young people and adults in a crisis. Marsh House has been brought back into active use to provide 11 units of supported youth homelessness accommodation, 22 units of temporary accommodation and a community hub drop-in facility. Additional features also include communal kitchens, lounges, games and TV rooms, accommodation for staff, outside wellbeing spaces and active travel provisions. The Assistivetech Monmouthshire Hub was officially opened on 4th June at Chepstow Community Hospital. The launch allowed colleagues from Monmouthshire County Council and partner organisation Aneurin Bevan Health Board plus members of other external organisations to see what technological solutions are on offer for the residents of Monmouthshire. The Hub is made up of two interactive rooms – the Assistive Technology Bedroom and the Smart Technology Living Room – which showcase the various technological solutions available to support and enable people to live comfortably and securely in their own homes. Last weekend, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June, saw Tredegar Park in Risca Town Centre transform for the third annual Risca Beach Party. Footfall counters in the town recorded over 3,000 visitors, with entry into the beach showing nearly 6,000 across the weekend. Families were seen to be enjoying the beach, attractions, funfair rides, Punch and Judy and Pirate shows, along with various food, drink, and craft stalls.
