A Cardiff care home is inviting local people to a free film screening at its private cinema.

From 3.30pm-5.30pm on 18th September, the team at Llys Herbert on Ty-Draw Road, is welcoming the community to join residents at their monthly movie matinee, beginning with The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

The home will now run regular screenings open to the public, on the third Wednesday of each month, providing the ideal venue to enjoy a feature film in an intimate, relaxed and cosy surrounding. Further planned screenings include Singing in the Rain and Mamma Mia.

As well as free entry to the film, guests can also enjoy complimentary refreshments provided by usherettes, including fresh popcorn, and meet the friendly team at Llys Herbert.

Therisa Galazka, Home Manager at Llys Herbert, said: “Here at Llys Herbert, we encourage residents to continue activities that they enjoyed in their younger years. Going to the pictures was a popular pastime for many residents, and our cinema has been designed to allow them to enjoy classic, ‘feel good’ films in the comfort of their home.

“As well as being a fun activity, watching films can also be a valuable reminiscence activity, especially for those living with dementia.

“We’re delighted to be able to open our cinema room up for the wider community to enjoy and are looking forward to welcoming a mixture of new and familiar faces.”

Llys Herbert is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the home has its very own cinema, café and hair salon, and there is plenty of space – both indoors and out – for relaxation and recreation.

For more information on Llys Herbert, or to book your place at the event, please call Customer Relations Manager, Jenny Ashton, on 029 2168 2706 or email [email protected]
