A Specsavers store in Prestatyn is set to celebrate 20 years of serving the community with a charity fundraiser for two local causes.

The opticians has provided high-quality eye care for optical and contact lens customers since it opened in 2004 with just six employees and two test rooms.

Today, the store has expanded to four test rooms and increased its team from six to 23 dedicated members of staff, who continue to drive the brand’s unchanged purpose: to change lives through better sight and hearing by making expert care accessible and affordable for everyone.

The store has also expanded its service offering to provide audiology services in-store and to make eye health accessible to all, offers a Home Visits service for those unable to leave their homes unaccompanied due to disability or illness.

To celebrate the milestone, the Prestatyn team has invited its customers to join them for a charity fundraiser in aid of the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline North Wales and the Lily Foundation.

The Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline North Wales, which the opticians has supported many times before, provides respite for children from Ukraine suffering the devastating effects of the Chernobyl disaster.

The Lily Foundation funds vital research into mitochondrial disease and is a charity close to the hearts of the Specsavers team, as the daughter of one of its team members sadly passed away from the disease at just nine months old.

The day-long charity event will be held at the store on Saturday 12 October and will involve a series of giveaways and raffles with more than 20 prizes donated by local businesses. Prizes include hampers, signed Everton FC memorabilia, pantomime tickets and gift vouchers.

Martyn Foss, optometrist director at the store, says: ‘We are thrilled to be celebrating 20 years at Specsavers Prestatyn. Without our talented and hardworking team, past and present, we wouldn’t be who we are today.

‘We’re a passionate team who is proud to support our local community, so we’ve chosen to celebrate this major milestone by fundraising for not one but two local causes that are close to our hearts.

‘We invite the local community to join us at our store to celebrate this milestone and we are very thankful to all those who have donated to our fundraiser so far.’

Those wishing to donate to the fundraiser can do so via the store’s JustGiving link here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/specsavers-prestatyn-20th-anniversary
