Newport’s oldest independent school marks the appointment of its first-ever female Head.

Pontypool-born Lisa Pritchard, 51, begins her headship this April at Rougemont School which is ranked top 5 in the country.  Mrs Pritchard will become the first-ever female head in the school’s 100-year history.

Rougemont was founded in 1924 and has been led by seven Headmasters during its 100-years.  Today, the school ushers in a new era with Lisa Pritchard taking the helm.

“I am honoured to be appointed Head of Rougemont and moreover, becoming the school’s first-ever female head is a true privilege.  As leaders in the community and beyond, we should always strive to be the best role models for future generations and I take this responsibility very seriously.

I hope my position inspires the young people around me as they aspire to be whatever they dream.  I am incredibly excited to lead Rougemont into its next chapter.”

Rougemont is an HMC independent co-educational day school for pupils from 3 to 18.  Nestled in the countryside on the outskirts of Newport, South Wales, the school was recently ranked top 5 in the country by the Sunday Times Parent Power Guide as well as being labelled the “best value Prep School in Wales” by the Telegraph.
