In modern times, golf has become more accessible to everyone. It is no longer a rich man’s sport because there is a wide variety of equipment that you can choose from, and still become a pro. Golf has a lot of benefits, such as reducing stress, improving your mental health, aiding in weight loss, and providing you with a unique social experience. This is why you shouldn’t walk away from it just because you think you cannot afford it. You can lower your expenses by familiarizing yourself with the kinds of gear you can purchase on a budget if you need to. Without further ado, here’s the kind of gear you need to excel.

    Clubs

A golf club is the most essential item in your bag. There are several types to choose from; you can try them to check what’s most comfortable and ask for one that is suitable for your level of skill. If you want a long head that provides the fastest and longest strokes, pick one from the woods category. For shorter shots and better ball grips, the irons can be useful. They come in different sets, and their ends are serrated to avoid slippage.

Wedges are a subcategory of irons as they have the same shape, but with more angulation. They can be used in sandy places. If you want to get the best of both categories, the newest modification is the hybrid club. It merges between the pros of irons and woods to give you the ultimate tool.

    Balls

If you’ve signed up for a crazy course, trainers will most likely ask for one-piece balls. They are rarely used nowadays as they are made of one material which makes them difficult to handle, but they are extremely durable. They are great for long-distance shots. The two-piece balls are the most common, owing to their durability and the softness of their exterior. For a shorter distance, three-piece balls are your best bet. They are softer and provide a better spin. Other modifications have been made to these balls, but professionals think that these are overkill and that the extra layers are not beneficial.

    Push/Pull Carts

Golf carts sort of ruin the active aspect of the sport. Back in the day, players used to walk back and forth, chasing around where their balls had landed. However, now golf courts are larger than before, so carrying your stuff around can hurt your back. One of the best options these days are push/pull carts. You can move around effortlessly without the heavyweight straining your shoulders and back.

However, if you plan to buy one, you need to be well-aware of the available specifications. They come with a different number of wheels, handle shapes, sizes, and mounts. Searching for a website that provides you with the pros and cons of each type can save you money and time. Some enthusiasts have created this guide that weighs the pros and cons, and it includes all of the needed information for beginners. You can choose your gear according to your preference and ability to maneuver carts.

    Tees

You may think that you don’t need to be meticulous while picking tees, but they are more crucial than you think. They are engineered to stabilize almost all types of balls and are used with every hole. Moreover, they have different colors, and measurements according to your height. You should always try them out before you purchase them to make sure that you’re comfortable while making your swing.

    Bags

You will need a golf bag to carry all of your gear and clothes with you. You don’t have to get one with a lot of pockets and accessories. The most luxurious one is the staff carrier which is large and is considered a long-term investment. However, if you are on a tight budget, all you need is a pencil bag as it is lightweight and easy to put on your back while having the space to accommodate your equipment. They can be carried from one hole to another effortlessly. If you are going for the push/pull cart, a rubber bag will be the most stable one.

After getting accustomed to the gear and each category, you can make a more calculated decision. Equipment is easy to find, and the sea of options you have allows more people to join the golf community and become a part of something new. You are no longer limited by money or social standards when it comes to practicing your favorite sports. The perks are too much to be ignored, and you can become a pro if you have the right arsenal.
