A 25-year-old mother of two from Swansea is preparing for a busy back to school period, thanks to her business supplying personalised gifts.

Caitlyn Jones launched Three Little Birdies at the end of November 2023 and specialises in seasonal ranges of bespoke products. Her Back to School range features personalised rucksacks with the option of choosing a colour and personalising both motif and child’s name.

Caitlyn’s bridal party gift bags have been particularly popular this summer and include a personalised robe, hanger, slippers, flute and bag.

Former teaching assistant Caitlyn, named the business Three Little Birdies after the childhood nickname her father gave to her and her sisters.

Caitlyn said: After becoming a mother, I wanted more control over my time and schedule. I wanted to be home with my children but I am also very driven. I didn’t want to give up work completely.”

Recognising the popularity of personalised, seasonal gifts with the rise in ‘making memories’ culture, Caitlyn began designing Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter gifts.

In the bridal bundle, names are embroidered onto the silk robe, slippers and bag and painted onto the hanger and flute, according to customer requirements.

Caitlyn said: “I have always wanted to be my own boss because I come from a family of business owners. My parents helped me research ways to start and we came across Business Wales. As I’m under 25, the team directed me to Big Ideas Wales.

“After meeting with my Business Advisor, Amanda, she recommended I apply for the Young Person’s Start-Up Grant. Alongside the grant, you can access one-to-one support from a dedicated business advisor, as well as workshops to build confidence in business and guidance to develop a business plan. I couldn’t have started my business without the initial investment from the grant and Amanda’s guidance.”

Amanda Bordessa, Big Ideas Wales Business Advisor said: “Caitlyn is incredibly driven and has a keen eye for attention to detail. I believe she’s committed to producing the best product possible that is authentic and in keeping with her personal values for her business. I cannot wait to see how Three Little Birdies develops in the future and wish her every success.”
