Cardiff Bay’s leading entertainment venue, The Red Dragon Centre, is partnering with anti-bullying charity BulliesOut to host a weekend of awareness activities.
Taking place on August 31-September 1, the Centre will be offering fun and free activities and information around the topic of bullying, targeting all ages. There will also be a pre-loved pop-up shop for guests to grab a second-hand bargain.
Established in 2006, BulliesOut is a dedicated and ambitious anti-bullying charity. Through its award-winning work with individuals, schools, youth and community settings and the workplace, each year they provide counselling, training, anti-bullying and wellbeing workshops, and support to thousands of people. Their vision is to empower children, young people and adults to overcome bullying behaviour, recognise their self-worth and achieve their full potential.
According to recent statistics from BulliesOut, 1 in 4 pupils are regularly bullied in school, 60% of young people and 40% of adults report being bullied online and 1 in 3 adults are bullied at work.
BulliesOut has been delivering workshops at The Red Dragon Centre for over 10 years, focusing on empowering people of all ages and tackle bullying behaviour. This year’s workshops have been part funded by the Cardiff Community Cohesion Fund.
Emma Constantinou, Marketing Manager at The Red Dragon Centre, said: “We are incredibly proud to be partnering with BulliesOut once again to help deliver their impactful workshops. The statistics for how many children, young people and adults are bullied in schools and workplaces is staggering and highlights just how important these workshops and resources are.
“At The Red Dragon Centre, we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where visitors of all ages and come and escape from everyday life and have some fun in the great indoors. So, to be hosting BulliesOut and providing two days of both fun and educational workshops to empower our guests and tackle bullying is an honour.”
Linda James MBE, Founder and CEO at BulliesOut, said: “We are incredibly grateful to The Red Dragon Centre for their partnership and helping us to host a weekend of inclusive and empowering activities.
“Bullying affects over 1.5 million of the UK’s children and young people every year, and our mission is to support individuals, schools, and communities through positive and innovative anti-bullying programmes. We strongly encourage anyone to come along to the Centre this weekend, whether you feel you have experienced bullying or not, to learn something new and leave feeling empowered.”
The Red Dragon Centre is home to a multitude of interactive, lifestyle and food and drink venues including Odeon Cinema, the home of Wales’ only IMAX screen, and the Hollywood Bowl which have been key Centre attractions since the beginning.
The Centre hosts a range of additional brands that make up an intrinsic part of the entertainment and dining experience, including Grosvenor Casino, Five Guys, Spice Route, Volcano, EasyThali, EveryTime, and Zaika.
The Centre is also the site of the Capital FM South Wales studio, which was formerly Red Dragon FM, as well as Heart FM. Today, you’ll find the likes of Josh and Kally broadcasting their Capital Drive Show live from there every weekday.
