Having successfully raised money for mental health charity Mind back in 2021, with a free pizza extravaganza, the guys behind Tin Can Kitchen are back with not one, but two free-food giveaways.

On Tuesday, October 10th, Tin Can Kitchen will run a dual cook-off, handing out free food at their kitchens in Newport and Cwmbran.

Situated just behind What! Stores on Llantarnam Road, staff at Tin Can Kitchen Cwmbran will hand out free cheeseburgers and fries; at the same time, staff at Tin Can Kitchen Newport will hand out free 9” margherita and vegan margherita pizzas.  Both giveaways will run from midday until 4 pm.

In exchange for lunch, the owners of Tin Can Kitchen kindly request that recipients make a small cash donation to Mind, a mental health charity in England and Wales.

Founded in 1946, Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems.  The charity also lobbies government and local authorities.

Speaking of the event, co-owner Barry Fallon had this to say:

“Here we are, just over two years since our last fundraiser, and what better day to raise awareness than on World Mental Health Day.  Life can be tough, what with everything that’s going on at the moment, so the services provided by charities such as Mind Newport and Mind Torfaen are as important as ever.”

The event on October 10th also coincides with the official launch of Tin Can Kitchen’s student discount scheme, providing university and college students with a generous 25% online discount.*

    Co-owner Jordan Phillips said:

“With more and more young people – especially college and University students – experiencing mental health issues, we like to help out and give something back where we can.  And at the end of a busy, stressful week, what better than some tasty comfort food?”
