United Kingdom got its first guidelines for teaching Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education in 2012 with the help of Enterprise Educators UK (EEUK), Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), and a host of other expert individuals or groups.

From the new guidelines, enterprise education is defined as a form of learning that enables students to develop the capacity for creative ideas and innovations for application in practical situations. These students will then generate ideas and develop them into innovative products or services while considering their economic, social, cultural, environmental, and intellectual impact.

Therefore, it focuses on your unique idea, the problem it solves, and the business environment. In the United Kingdom, this form of learning leans more towards how students can utilize their enterprising skills to create and maintain ventures.

What you should know about Enterprise education

Its application in the UK focuses more on innovation and valuable ideas. All levels of learning can draw value from this type of learning for use in preparing students for adulthood. The government supports this form of learning in terms of strategy and monetary funding. Some institutions deliver it as part of the curriculum, while others consider it as an extracurricular activity.

    It involves specific knowledge on:

    • Mindset development (opportunity assessment, personal values, risk-tolerance & motivation)
    • Professional skills development
    • Business & market awareness

Enterprise Educators UK now has the opportunity to provide very practical advice on how to apply creative ideas. Students get an opportunity to understand the business ecosystem and how it is connected to products, services, and companies.

In higher education, Enterprise education finds application in, Engineering, Technology, Medicine, History, Biochemistry, Veterinary Science, Arts, Physical Sciences, and Social Science research. In primary and secondary education levels, it is taught alongside subjects such as:

    • Personal, Social & Health Education
    • Economic Wellbeing & Financial Capability
    • Personal Development & Mutual Understanding
    • Careers & The World of Work

Some of the initiatives in place that are in support of enterprise education include funding mechanisms, free online portals, entrepreneurial shadowing and challenge contests, online forums, competitions, mentorship programs, guides, and frameworks.

    Various types of Enterprising skills

Traditionally, enterprise education used to offer only knowledge. The new approach allows students to learn in the right environment. These studies make use of experimental teaching methods such as going through case studies, simulations, practical activities, projects, and support schemes in day to day learning. Eventually, students get to develop key enterprising skills, attitudes, and behaviors.

Enterprise Educators UK gets to test for soft skills such as:

    • Communication
    • Opportunity Evaluation
    • Decision-Making
    • Problem-Solving
    • Teamwork
    • Commercial Analysis
    • Negotiation
    • Resource Acquisition
    • Presentation Skills
    • Creativity

Writing a personal statement can be difficult for most students, especially those that don’t have previous exposure to enterprise education. Most of them may consider using UK personal statement service. If you intend to buy such a service, then you should consider help from an expert personal statement writer.

    Why Is Enterprise Important?

Enterprise education deals with subject knowledge, and its application in the world of work. It can prepare the student for employment or self-employment, but to a large extent, it makes them more like freelancers. Most institutions use it as a form of methodology to deliver valuable agendas or institutional goals.

These studies allow students to build capacity and put learning into practice using more practical ways.  The UK’s economy relies on highly-skilled, self-aware, and self-confident graduates who, through social enterprise, aim to add value to society.

Educational Authorities in the country are geared towards transforming society through the delivery of employability development and public engagement. Since enterprise education is for all, so there are possibilities that this form of learning will be embedded in the entire UK education curriculum.

Through these studies, closing the gaps between education and workplace was made easy. It also prepares young people for work. Students get to use knowledge earned from this new learning process to better understand the economic, business, and financial side of their environment.

According to reports, enterprise attaches purpose in education, which motivates and gives the student confidence to succeed outside school. Therefore, they get to leave school ready for that world as well-prepared potential employers.
