Emirates, the world’s largest airline and title sponsor of The FA’s flagship knockout competition is today revealing the names behind this year’s Emirates FA Cup Final mascots.

Working with The FA and non-league clubs, Emirates has travelled up and down the country to surprise unsuspecting fans including Wrexham A.F.C. supporter, Mia Matthews, aged 10 from Wrexham.

Mia comes from a family of Wrexham fans, including her grandparents who have all enjoyed Wrexham’s journey in the Emirates FA Cup. Her grandfather sadly passed away earlier this season but despite their loss, the family continued to support the club.

It is due to this incredible support that the club and Emirates wished to give something back and nominated Mia to be an official Emirates FA Cup mascot at the Final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 3rd June.

Wrexham A.F.C. part of the National League reached the Emirates FA Cup fourth round but were heartbrokenly knocked out in a fourth round replay against Sheffield United.

As part of her mascot journey, Mia will get to experience this special moment together with friend, Amelia Lewis where they both will walk out at Wembley Stadium as mascots in front of tens of thousands of fans at the Emirates FA Cup Final.

To announce the news, Mia was invited down to Racecourse Ground where she was met by presenter, Josh Denzel and former Premier League player, Wayne Bridge for a sit-down to chat about her experiences and affiliation with the club.

Wrexham A.F.C. defender and Mia’s favourite player, Aaron Hayden was also part of the action and let Mia know that she had been personally selected by the club to become an Emirates FA Cup Final mascot for the ultimate surprise.

As part of the day, the official Emirates FA Cup trophy was presented where Mia was able to hold it as if winning it herself.

Along with Wrexham A.F.C., Emirates and The FA have worked with three other clubs who have had incredible Emirates FA Cup journeys this year including Boreham Wood F.C., Alvechurch F.C. and Eastbourne Borough F.C. Each club nominated their own young fans who have gone above and beyond in their support for their local team where they too will also get to walk out as mascots during the Emirates FA Cup Final this June.

The Emirates FA Cup is the world’s oldest football tournament and it’s known for bringing together non-league and Premier League giants as they vie for their spot at Wembley Stadium.
