A new residential home for adults with needs associated with autism is set to create 30 jobs in Pontarddulais and the surrounding areas. Orbis Education and Care is due to open the service, called Cartref Mynydd, in the coming weeks.

Set in 20 acres of countryside, Cartref Mynydd takes its name from its stunning mountainside location and is set to welcome five adults into its brand new self-contained apartments before the end of the year.

Orbis Education and Care supports children, young people and adults with autism in homes and schools across Wales, and is actively seeking enthusiastic, caring and compassionate people who can make a difference to the lives of others.

Dave Power, New Business Manager for adult services at Orbis, said: “To say we are excited to be welcoming five new residents into the Orbis family at Pontarddulais is something of an understatement, and we’re just as excited about getting to know the local community.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone who might be ready to make a difference to someone else’s life, and who feels passionately about helping us make Cartref Mynydd the best place for residents to live, and a great place for people to work.”

Orbis Education and Care runs 16 schools, residential homes and facilities for children and adults in Wales. The opportunities at Cartref Mynydd are for people who are looking for a permanent and rewarding career in care, who may not necessarily have previous experience in a care-related role but are dedicated and enthusiastic team-players.

Dave said: “We have a dedicated staff team across Wales supporting the amazing children and adults within our care. They go above and beyond to educate and support our residents and pupils every single day.

“We’re on the lookout for people who can bring their passion and drive to work every day, who can help our team continue to do an amazing job and support our residents to flourish.’

Orbis is currently recruiting specialist staff to join its schools and care homes all around South and Mid Wales including Cartref Mynydd.
