Nando’s is turning up the heat in south Wales, having announced the opening of its new Bridgend restaurant, opening its doors to local Welsh PERi-PERi fans from 8th December 2020.

Nando’s Bridgend will seat 56 hungry customers at launch, with social distancing measures in place (79 at full capacity), as well as an additional 8 seats on the restaurant’s ‘Treehouse’ mezzanine (16 at full capacity). The new opening will also create up to 26 new jobs in the area.

Regional Managing Director, Samantha Neal, said: “We’re very excited to unveil Nando’s new Bridgend site, which has been built using mostly local, Welsh contractors. We’ve also teamed up with two brilliant local artisans, Customised Sheet Metal and Out to Learn Willow, to create the restaurant’s incredible ‘Treehouse’ mezzanine centrepiece, for fans to dine in. Opening a new restaurant during a pandemic hasn’t been easy but we can’t wait to fire up the grills”.

Richard Garratt, Centre Manager at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend comments: “We are committed to creating the very best customer experience for every guest who walks into a McArthurGlen centre, and this begins with our exceptional mix of local and international brands on offer. We are thrilled to welcome Nando’s to our line-up of much-loved restaurants at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend and are confident it’ll be a firm, family favourite that provides our customers with even greater choice when they visit us.”

Nando’s Bridgend will be the first restaurant in Wales to have its PERi-PERi story written in Welsh and will look to support the local community – having already teamed up with local contractors to make repairs to the Llanharan Miners Welfare Hall.

Those looking to eat-in will be required to abide by local Covid-19 regulations as well as new safety protocols implemented by Nando’s. Before coming to Nando’s Bridgend, fans should note the following:

The new  restaurant will be operating under a reduced capacity to help maintain social distancing and for reduced hours as per current government advice. This means that there will be fewer tables available at any one time and waiting times to be seated might be a little longer than usual. If demand is particularly high then customers needn’t worry as online click and collect  will still be available . All eat-in service will stop at 6pm but delivery and click and collect will be available beyond 6pm.

A virtual queuing system  will be operating  via a QR code which can be scanned via a mobile phone, customers will be allotted a virtual slot in the queue and will be alerted when their table is ready via a text message or notification. The contact details of each member of your party will need to be added at this stage

The restaurant will be able to accommodate tables of up to six people maximum. When your table is ready a member of the Nando’s team will greet you at the door, where hand sanitiser will be provided, they will lead you to your table.

Different rules apply for different size groups depending on if you are from the same household. Groups of 4 (excluding children under 11): We’ll be checking your ID when you arrive. We need to make sure we’re giving the table to the right person, after all! Groups of 5 or 6 (excluding children under 11): We’ll need you to prove you live together when you arrive (with an ID of some sort, not a family picture…).

Customers will have a recyclable disposable menu available but will scan a QR code using a menu scanner and place their order and pay via their phone.

All food, drinks, cutlery, PERi-PERi sauce and napkins will be brought to your tableby a member of the restaurant team and dessert orders can be made at the table. Anyone looking to order a refill for their drink should speak to a member of the team who will happily grab a clean glass and refill it for you. Unfortunately we are unable to serve any alcohol at this time due to current government guidelines.

Tables will be completely cleaned down and swept before and after each use including tables, chairs and the surrounding floor.

These  measures are designed to minimise contact with customers at other tables and avoid queues within the restaurant to maintain safety. Returning customers should rest assured that their safety as well as the safety of our team is a top priority.

Regional Managing Director, Samantha Neal, added: “Things might be a little different for a while, but we hope the changes won’t drastically affect the laid back Nando’s experience that people have come to know and love.”

Nando’s Bridgend restaurant will open its doors to local fans of PERi-PERi from 8th December 2020.
