The Carneddau Landscape Partnership launched the first round of the Cronfa Gymunedol y Carneddau grants programme today. Grants of between £200 and £5,000 are available for small to medium-sized community projects that align with the Carneddau Landscape Partnership’s aims.
From 1 March 2021 the Partnership would welcome expressions of interest for the Cronfa Gymunedol y Carneddau programme. The programme is open to non-profit groups and organisations in and around the Carneddau area – including public bodies, community groups and partnerships.
This is an opportunity to put ideas for pioneering and creative projects into action and help people to discover, conserve, and celebrate their local heritage. This could be through an art project, new and creative interpretation, virtual walks, online learning courses, and welfare initiatives – and much more. The Landscape Partnership Scheme is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The recipients of the grants are decided by the Cronfa Gymunedol y Carneddau panel. This panel is made up of volunteers who live in the area and who are interested in contributing to the aims of the Scheme.
The Carneddau Landscape Partnership Scheme – a collection of organisations led by the Snowdonia National Park Authority – is a 5-year scheme that will promote a positive future for the area. At the heart of the Scheme is a vision to help as broad an audience as possible to discover, conserve and celebrate the Carneddau.
The Scheme will help conserve the area’s heritage by promoting sustainable land use that protects rare habitats, species and archaeological remains, and by recording place names and memories.

‘The pandemic continues to affect our everyday lives, but we’ve seen examples all over the world of people and communities coming up with creative ideas to support each other and make lockdown a bit more bearable.’
‘We hope this Fund will help turn some of those ideas into a reality, by supporting innovative projects that will help people living in and around the Carneddau to discover and connect with its unique and remarkable heritage.’
